Our Daily Juice

Mr. W doesn't really cook for me (save Valentine's Day) but lately he's been spending time in the kitchen whipping up some breakfast for me.  We splurged and bought a Breville juicer (Mr. W watched Fat Sick and Nearly Dead) and decided he wanted to try juicing.

For me, breakfasts used to consist of coffee and a scone or yogurt.  These days, it's a super healthful glass of Green Lemonade. It's delicious and packed full of nutrients and it inspires better eating habits throughout the day.  Bonus: it's made by my man, it can't get better than that!

Green Lemonade: a bunch of kale, 7 celery sticks, 2 apples, 1 lemon and some ginger.

The shrapnel looks like rainbow sherbet, don't you think?

Breakfast for two.  Though I think you can drink the whole thing by yourself.

Hello Monday.

Last week I started taking my classes at 6am (a new offering that I'm so thrilled about) so I can free up my weekend mornings for other fun stuff - like sleeping in, making breakfast, morning walks.

This past weekend was one of the first that I actually started feeling like myself again.  Nicky and I watched a lot of Planet Earth, we did some cooking and I had the most amazing massage (I think my new favorite) with bride to be Stephanie. Mr. W and I even fit in a walk (see photo above) and band rehearsal!

So much good stuff I was sort of sad to see it end.

I was inspired by this post to make some delicious Buttery Tomato Pasta (so easy and so, so delicious!) and homemade pizzas using this really easy recipe from Bon Appetit.  All you need is 4 ingredients (water is one) and about 18+ hours of rise time.  Definitely two recipes I'll make again.

The pasta - with a small dollop of Ricotta Fresca and fresh basil.

This pizza looks upside-down.  But it's topped with yukon gold potatoes, rosemary, olive oil and ricotta.

This pizza looks upside down too.  It's topped with yellow zucchini, basil, olive oil and ricotta.

Margherita - with heirloom tomato, basil, olive oil and fresh mozzarella.

This was a BBQ/Buffalo Chicken concoction topped with veggie buffalo wings, garlic, shallots, basil, BBQ sauce and fresh mozzarella.

How embarrassing that I didn't get photos of the pizzas when they came out of the oven?  We were so excited to eat them (I mean really, we did wait all that time for the dough to get ready), that we got carried away.  Trust us, they looked delicious!

Here's to a a great week ahead. XO

Sloths are the new kittens.

I've always thought, if I could be any animal I'd be a sloth.

image from Sloth.org

Seriously.  They just hang out in trees, eat leaves at a nice leisurely pace.

Have you noticed how they're all the rage these days?

Kristen Bell loves them.

They get onesies.

I'm sort of hoping they won't get so popular that they'll become so 2012 one day.

Perhaps I can weave them into future vacation plans.  I've always wanted to go to Costa Rica - they've got a Sloth Sanctuary.  I've asked Mr. W if we can keep one in the backyard.

If I had one I'd bring the little guy wherever I go.  Can you imagine? We could even get matching nail art.  So much canvas on a sloth's talons - a nail artist's dream!

Wishing I was back in Paris today.

Life ain't bad, but days like today I daydream about Paris, rain or shine, walking around hand-in-hand with my Mr. W.

Happy Wednesday! XO

Fragrant flowers spilling out to the sidewalk.

Loved capturing this photo through a fence from a park across the Rue de Rivoli.

We ALMOST took this little one home. Almost.

Gilded horsemen.

One of my favorite photos of the Eiffel Tower.

Bright spot on a rainy day

My friend Jeanette just clued me in to the fact that a photo from our wedding appeared on yesterday's 100 Layer Cake!  See the photo, from the site, below on the left.

If there's a photo sale by Our Labor of Love (our photographers) - brides better get in queue! They were amazing to work with.

I love this shot so much.  Being in that turquoise pick up (that seriously just happened to be there) was one of the more memorable moments of our day.

It's hard to believe that was almost 2 years ago AND that I chopped off all my hair!

Thanks Jeanette - XO.

Every celebration needs some sort of cake.

So what is it with Wednesday's being National _______ Days? Yesterday was National Margarita Day.  I didn't celebrate. Next Wednesday is National Pancake Day (or is it the end of National Pancake Week?).

Whatever the reason, I love pancakes and I plan to celebrate (likely at dinner time- the reason will be self evident below).

I'm very particular about my pancakes.  They need to be fluffy with a mottled and webbed toast on the exterior (if that makes sense). I don't mind a little crisp edges, but not greasy and not crunchy.  Secretly, I would really like to order a tall stack,  like six pancakes tall. And eat the whole thing. By myself, no judgment.  I like to keep my pancakes simple. No fruit, no whipped cream, no crazy special additions.  Just simple cakes, real maple syrup and a cold pat of salted butter.

Is that possible?  Of course I'd need to nap afterwards.  That's what carbs do.

I like whole wheat versions too.  Recipe and photo from HERE.
