RPA Love on NOTCOT

One of my favorite bloggers, friends and part of the once-in-awhile blogger/girl get-together dinner: Jean Aw, stopped for a visit at my current work place (RPA) not long ago.

Since then, she's literally been running all over the world, covering some amazing events and sights (see her amazing adventures and current likes on the NOT Empire). She's back for a moment, and perhaps we will be able to go to tea while I'm working on the west side! Lovely.

Oh, and check out a recent post on NOTCOT, featuring that visit to RPA here. XO

Dairy Discovery

My friend Shelley, who now lives in New Orleans, first told me about a yogurt called Liberte. She claimed it was so good, like having dessert-good. I've since looked for it everywhere. Even if I'm not looking for yogurt while food shopping, I'll check the dairy case, just to see if it's there. I started to doubt it's existence. Today, I finally found it at the Whole Foods in Santa Monica.

OH. MY. GOODNESS.
AMAZING!

I don't know if I can have it every morning- having it feels like quite the indulgence. Extremely dense consistency and the particular shade of white is the epitome of creamy. The 17g of fat can't be that bad, can it? It is yogurt afterall (or yogourt as it's spelled on the label), so it has those super helpful active cultures...

Table Manners (I Need This)

My husband is always griping about my phone etiquette at the dinner table. I knew I wasn't alone, but a new project, My Phone Is Off For You, helps put things in perspective and, admittedly puts me to shame.

I especially love the quote on the site:
"A person's success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have." Timothy Ferriss

Ol' Factory

My friend Troy recently turned me on to this company. Factory 20's collection draws from modern (and Post and Mid-Century), linear post-industrial and primitive no-nonsense sensibilities. Even if you gravitate toward more frou frou furnishings, a piece from their collection could really make a space more inviting or create a tangent in the story of a space. Each piece seems to tell it's own tale.

And their presentation - amazing! Every product image on the site is a well executed and inspiring still life. I imagine myself hovering over a primitive desk in the wee hours of the morning, accompanied by an oil lamp, feverishly drawing up plans for my next big thing (or more realistic: a corny love letter to Mr. W). XO

Definitely A Fan of: Sarah Yates

Even though I'm an old married lady, I still subscribe to wedding blogs and I don't think I will stop reading them any time soon. What can I say, I love LOVE.

Imagine my glee when I saw that my sweet and talented pal Sarah Yates was featured in, not one, but TWO mega-wedding blogs TODAY!

Style Me Pretty featured a gorgeous wedding that Sarah shot at a mid century estate in, where else? Palm Springs!

And then Green Wedding Shoes featured a shoot, shot by Sarah! So beautiful. Makes me want to plan another wedding in my hometown...

I feel so lucky that Sarah shot our engagement photos and that we became fast friends from there. I can't wait to see what she does next! XOXO

Check out more of Sarah's work:

Fancy Ale

I'm a sucker for design when it comes to making purchases, especially about things I don't know much about (beer, wine and the like). I'm not an overtly girly girl (though some may beg to differ), but I'm underwhelmed by the design of most beers.

Dark green glass, a beautiful label and cork top are not necessarily what one thinks about when it comes to beer, but much to my delight I found all of the above in Foret Saison! A lovely organic ale from Belgium, it's delicious and so pretty that I wanted to save the bottle and the cork.

The company says it pairs well with grilled meats and kidneys, but I'll stick to the former. Definitely a lovely alternative to the standard gift of wine for the party host (ahem). XO

Animal Collective

I have a fascination with animal accessories and motifs, especially handbags. I was victim to the teddy bear backpacks of the early 90s and I still carry around an owl wrist-purse for formal occasions. When I wear such accessories, I think of the woman in the foreground of Seurat's painting: Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte - she has a pet monkey on a leash (and you know, hand bags are like carrying a small pet?).

Anyhow, I absolutely LOVE these animal clutches by tsurubride - she even has one inspired by one of my favorite books: The Little Prince.

I think they'd look great any day, and the metallics make them a great statement piece for evening. XOXO.

Madewell: head to toe

Two things to love about Madewell: their breath-of-fresh-air looks and their recently launched online shop. A few pieces I would love to add to my wardrobe or wear all at once!

In Need of NEW

So now that I have all this time on my hands to obsess on other things, I'm looking at what I can do to refresh. At the top of the list is my hair. Of course, I was growing it for the wedding and it's probably the longest its ever been (see recent photo below) - like to my waist!

I love the length, so I'm thinking bangs. I know: how uninspired, blah. I really like to look of Nicole Richie's bangs and they're so versatile.

I do LOVE Michelle Williams, pixie cut, grown out pixie, longish bangs. She always looks amazing. Eventually I will go short. I'm not scared, I've been there before!

Strangely, I was really loving lavender hair for a bit too. Although I think clients wouldn't take me seriously (I know this because I used to wear gigantic wristwatches and they were so distracted in my meetings).

Well, bangs it is. I'm sure I'll be back again when I am ready for new NEW. XOXO

Take It Easy, Archer.

Someone recently asked me if I could be born in any month, outside of the month I was born, which would I choose? I said October because I love Fall and Halloween. But I daresay these arrow earrings by Garnett make me happy I'm a Sagittarius!

I still have a fascination for arrows. I would pair these earrings with loosely piled hair atop my head (someone told me a bun was old-fashioned, call me old-fashioned then!), with a simple silk dress because lately, simple sounds nice (dress from Nomia).

And taking it even further with the simple routine, go grey (my favorite neutral for awhile now) in some suede wide-strapped wedges (from Ash). XO

Let's Go Swimming!

This last week had June gloom all over it and seems that the sun has come out to play today. Well, HELLO to you too!

I don't usually say this, but I'd really like to wade in a pool. When we were in Palm Springs for my bachelorette weekend, it was really nice to hang out (for hours) at the Parker PSYC pool.

Perhaps I'm still tired from last weekend, but give me a shallow end and a bottle of Blue Moon Honeymoon Ale (after all, it's only been one week!) and I'm a happier lady. XO

Who-Who's Calling?

I've been thinking a lot about my iPhone. Mostly, how I need a new one with more memory (hurry up iPhone OS4!).

When I get mine, I think I will nestle it in a case like this. I'm notoriously clumsy, at least the felt will provide some cushion.

Summer Suppers

Now that the wedding is done, I'm moving on to my next self-funded event venture: Summer Suppers!

The other night, we grilled a mustard-crusted tri-tip, white corn in-husk and simple olive oil-drizzled asparagus with sea salt and fresh bread. After which we further stuffed ourselves with leftover wedding cake with ice cream and basked in the glow of our new patio heater going (who gave that to us btw?).

There's something about dining al fresco on a summer night! I loved it - and I'm excited to do it again soon, maybe with Mr. W's homegrown vegetables and homemade ice cream?

Sneak Peek: SLoWJo 2010

It's been a whirlwind past few months, it seems and this past Saturday it all came to a slow-motion event called our wedding day (aka: SLoWJo 2010).

It was a beautiful day - if I do say so myself, and my Mr. W has become the most handsome gusher of love since! Eventually, I'll have photos to post from our awesome photographers - Our Labor of Love, but here's a sneak peek from a friend's camera. XO
