View of the sky

I have a stockpile of photos from Vermont. Mr. W has some great video footage of snow and waterfalls, yes really. Eventually I will post some of that here, but it has not been in-keeping with the glorious local weather of late. Today, however, is a very Pacific Northwest day in LA!

Nice for a Sunday, though it not easy to rally during the weekdays when the weather is like this. Hope it clears up soon! Until then...

Some winter whites from our little trip to chilly Vermont.

A gray day in LA (really didn't mean for it to rhyme, but OK!).

Clemence, Again.

Remember when I said that I was a fan of Clemence Poesy? I still am. Her look has a fresh combination of innocence and sophistication. I had to buy the February Marie Claire because she is in it (and these looks make me excited for Spring)!

In the meantime, I think I'm going to steal her cat-eye liner (actually I stole it today using MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in Defiantly Feline) and I'm positively stealing her long, full layers at my next hair appointment at Lucas. XO

Simple Geometry

Maybe it's the influence of the guys in the office, but I've been very draw to more angular motifs vs. the ultra-femme florals and decidely girly-grpahics of seasons past.

Here are some pieces that are on my current adore list. Of course I'll balance all the lines with something soft. See below. XO

Retro Super Future "W" Glasses from 80s Purple

For something soft, I think a nicely swooped do helps balance it all out! via Refinery29

Motivation In A Tube

I haven't followed Project Runway for awhile. The only tidbits I know of, is what I hear in the office or after the season is over. I recently picked up Marie Claire's issue featuring the latest winner (Gretchen Jones), her model muse and a sample of outfits from her winning line.
I really liked her collection - chevron patterns, earth tones, rich textures, but what I was really taken with was the color of her lips- a nice vibrant orange. Apparently, Gretchen Jones rarely strays from her favorite lip rouge: MAC's So Chaud (below). It reminded me to switch things up and bring out my deeper corals and orangey reds (much to the dismay of my husband who likes his ladylove more natural-hued).

As of late, J. Crew seems to be styling their models with brighter orange lips. It's not a look for the faint of heart or those who can't be bothered to reapply.
As for the magic of all of this: this new year has brought long days to my desk (hence the recent break in posting). I'm working a lot and later these days and the punchier pouts help make me feel less...well, blah. If you ask me, that's well worth the effort. XO

Running LA

My Mr. W is once again running the LA Marathon. Seems there's a lot of interest since they changed the race course. I never thought about it until Mr. W told me: running through a city is one of the best ways to see a city - you have full use of streets that you'd never be able to run on most other days!

These photos on the LA Marathon site show just a few reasons why LA is one of the best cities. Ever.

Dodger Stadium - where the run began last year.

A vision to behold from the ground and above: Walt Disney Concert Hall, Downtown LA.

Align Center
Our very own neighborhood: Echo Park among the city's giants.

I think this is Hollywood Blvd.

Of course, no tour of Los Angeles is complete without the Hollywood Stars.

All you runners (bless you!) should register ASAP, if you haven't already. Word is, space is running out fast! (no pun intended) XO
