PS. I feel like having English fare all day long. First stop is a scone and tea in honor of the Royal Wedding. What a great way to begin the weekend!

Whistling Wolf

I had a fascination with whistles when I was a kid. Growing up in LA in the 80s, my mom would bring a whistle on our evening walks - a precursor to pepper spray? Though I doubt anyone who heard our whistle would come to our defense. I typically walked around the block with the whistle in my mouth - so any breath exerted with physical activity was emphasized with that shrill sound.

The girl who whistled wolf? Yes, that was me.

I love little statement necklaces like these. Though they're completely functional, they're nice to look at too. XO

Summertime Kicks

I recently saw a fashion spread featuring these sandals. They looks remarkably chic paired with a floppy straw hat, cream linen blouse and light and loose chambray miniskirt.

Horton Sandal Tory Burch

Though they don't look like much here, don't they remind you of summers from childhood?
  • Playing with the neighborhood kids on days that seemed to last forever
  • Reading books by the window with the electric fan on while grandma watched the Dodger game on TV
  • Waiting to hear the familiar tune of the ice cream truck and yelling - panicking for your mom to hurry up with the change because the ice cream man was threatening to drive away because you hadn't paid for that popsicle you just ordered?
Well, maybe not that last part. XO

Spring (Almost Summer) Wardrobe Want

I like to dress up for work, but I don't like to be boring!

I'd really love to pair a ethnic top like this tucked into or belted with a pencil skirt (maybe in navy or a brighter blue) and a pair of open-toe brown leather platform heels.

Spring Celebration in STL

Hope you had a wonderful Easter! Mr. W, ND and I went to St. Louis for the weekend. There were lots of surprises to say the least! A few good ones: a birthday cake for Mama W and little bunny cakes for the kiddos.

One of my favorite surprises wasn't really a surprise at all. I haven't dyed eggs in awhile and the kiddos are a little older so I thought the egg-related things were behind us. But I'm so glad we dyed eggs (and set the kiddos loose with an egg hunt), it was so much fun!

We used basic food coloring, hot water and vinegar and we got creative with crayons, paper towels and double dipping. I really love the way our eggs came out - very organic looking! More of the masterpieces below.

i was completely mesmerized by this egg!

A Real Average Banquet

As I wrote last week, the Real Average FC season has come to an end (but a new one is just around the corner). We had a classic end of season banquet - at Round Table Pizza (home of the last honest Pizza). Some fun photos from the festivities.

Players at their WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends) enjoying the overall splendor.

These players were still not over their disappointing loss.
Cheer up - there's beer!

This a post ceremony shot (see below for shots from the awards ceremony) but as you can see from Matt's expression, he was beyond happy with his win.

More of the team + WAGs.
That is a massive pizza in the corner!

The crowd settles down for the awards ceremony.

Coach Bryan looked very official in his suit. He opens with a very sobering speech about their season end, but looks forward with optimism.

Matt wins for his overuse of 'Kitten Gloves' during game play.
Yes there's a typo in the certificate. Just one way we continue to keep it ave.

Nick for most reliable score.

D-Flo for his wide-eyed approach to the game.
Ironically, Coach Bryan blinked in this shot.

Someone who shall remain nameless rec'd the MIA award.
Funny because he wasn't there!

'Silent but deadly' went to our new goalkeeper.
He has reason to be silent - he's a thoughtful neurology PhD candidate by day.

Turned that frown upside down!
Colin couldn't be happier about keeping it average.

Success in soccer must run in their family.
Colin's brother Kyle came in fresh this season and got 'Rookie of the Year.'

And with no competition, Bryan bestowed upon himself the award of "Coach of the Year."
Unfortunately we didn't get it together to give him a gift card to Big5 or something like that. There's always next season!

Funniest (for me) was that I volunteered to snap photos during the award ceremony.
I'm nerdy like that! It seemed especially fitting to receive the WAG of the year award.
I was privileged to be in the company of such stellar competition!

Next season, gotta step up my game and start bringing half time oranges and post-game treats! XO

Primped Out Nails

I LOVE glitter. It seems like something I should have outgrown many years ago, but I can't help myself. And I've never been one for manicures because I'm too impatient to wait for my nails to dry and I inevitably end up messing them up.

I recently pinned this image and it inspired me to get a proper manicure (at least that part's grown up). I tried the gel nail treatment and I LOVE IT! The process takes a bit longer and you probably should wear waterproof UV protection on your hands when going in for it (UV curing process), but my nails were dry and ready to go immediately! Amazing. XO

A friend turned me on to Pinterest, so I opened an account awhile back, but I didn't do muchwith it until this past weekend. Now I'm hooked!

It's so easy to stockpile imagery from my favorite shops, blogs & sites - for inspiration and for sharing AND find new places to visit. If you haven't tried it yet, check it out here.

While you're there, let's connect and share too! Here's a link to my boards -

Happy Tuesday! XO

A Real Average Birthday for Mr. W

Sunday was Mr. W's birthday. He also played with his soccer team Real Average FC - for their first playoff game.

Ended in a tie (0-0) so the game was settled in penalty kicks. Although Real Average won their division, the opponent goalie got wise and ended their winning streak. That's okay because there's a new season around the corner and disappointment was put aside for pizza and beer at the team's end of season banquet.

Aside from the company, one of my favorite parts of dinner was the cake. Check it out -

Mr. W says he felt a little like this last shot after the day. Ha!
